About the Universities of Paris

Universities of Paris is an exchange program through Mission Interuniversitaire de Coordination des Échanges Franco-Américains (MICEFA), an academic exchange organization which works with several branches of the University of Paris. Through this organization, you will be matched with one of 16 universities in Paris that best fits your French proficiency and study plan.

This program is designed for students whose preparation in French language is sufficient to permit them to enroll in French-taught courses within regular departments of the University of Paris. The program begins with a four-week intensive French Preparatory Language Program (PLP) organized by MICEFA. The PLP is designed to provide linguistic and cultural preparation for the year in Paris. MICEFA also arranges field trips and visits to local sites as an introduction to Paris.

During the fall and spring semesters, students will enroll in courses for their major and/or minor within regular departments of the University of Paris. Placement in a branch of the University of Paris will be determined by the courses available and by the student's language ability. In addition, students take at least one French language support course offered by MICEFA or at the Nanterre or St. Denis branches of the university.
