IRA Program Sponsorship 2026

CSUSB Education Abroad has received funding from the Instructionally Related Activities fund for 2026!

CSUSB-led programs are priced using a break-even model -- the University changes a "program fee" that is just enough to cover the direct costs of running the program. The great news is that this keeps our programs affordable. The bad news is that if we don't enroll enough students to cover group costs, the program gets cancelled.

IRA sponsorship of CSUSB-led programs with GE courses is meant to help ensure that each program meets minimum enrollment to run. It also ensures that CSUSB students who cannot study abroad can still complete the same coursework offered through study abroad at home on the CSUSB campus.

CSUSB-led programs for 2026 are advertised at their IRA-sponsored rate. There are limited spots for matriculated (degree-seeking) CSUSB students to pay the IRA-sponsored rate for their program. Additional students, any non-matriculated CSUSB participants, and any participants who are external to CSUSB are required to pay an additional $793 on top of the advertised program fee for CSUSB-led programs with IRA sponsorship.

An IRA-sponsored spot is not guaranteed until you are accepted to your program and pay the program fee deposit ($500).
